Common sense tells us that no one person has all of the answers to the challenges facing our county. That's why it is important to bring diversity of thought to our Board of Commissioners. It isn't in our long-term interest to have just on point of view represented.
A wise man once told me that "if everybody is thinking alike, somebody isn't thinking".
My campaign brings new ideas to addressing our challenges. A fresh point of view will expand our conversations and develop real solutions.
I don't have all the answers but I do have an overall view of the role of government that is different than my opponent's. This view is guided by the belief that government has a proper role and needs to focus on its core functions.
Those core functions at the local level include:
- Upholding the US Constitution and the NC Constitution
- Public Safety
- Public Education
- Infrastructure
- Protecting our environment and natural resources
- Providing a basic social safety net to those who cannot provide for themselves.
